Registration for Season I

Season I of the FSL is now open. It will be on a first come first served this time around, as we build up our reputation of being a premier FIFA Xbox™ event. We have 14 places to fill.

We have already said that the first season will be an all online event, which we will used to make sure the event is being run as best as can be. We also hope to get feedback off the first seasons entrants to help make future events better.

So prizes for the first season. We have the all new FIFA Night Trophy for the winner.

ECL FIFA Final

Adam ‘Adamw’ Winster has taken 1st place in the ECL FIFA Tournament. Winsert took the crown by beating ‘Classic’ of Dignitas in the final game of the event. In a best of 3 Winster won 2:1 to become the ECL FIFA Champion and take home a prize of £1200.

Interview from ECL

Congratulations Adam, you must be pleased with your performance this weekend?

Yeah I played very well and I had a very tough draw too, I played Classic in the Quarter Finals too, so I’m especially pleased that I managed to come through a hard bracket and win from that.

After you put Classic into the Lower Bracket were you surprised to see him in the final? Were you confident going into the game?

No I wasn’t surprised to see him in the final, once he was in the lower bracket it was always going to be him or sensation meeting me in the final. I was confident yeah, as he had to win two series and I only had to win one, so it was an uphill battle for him really.

He managed to win the first game 3-0 and then took the lead in the second game. Were you worried at any point?

Yeah to be honest I thought he was going to take the first series. In the first game his defence was so tough to break down and in the second game I managed to come from behind to win. In the third game his defence just fell apart really.

What do you think made the difference that meant that you walked away as champion?

I think I just played to the best of my ability and to be honest if I play to that standard I’m always going to have a good chance of winning.

You take away £1200 for your troubles, do you have any particular plans for the money?

Yeah I’m probably going to buy a car as I’ve just passed my driving test.

Did anyone in particular surprise you with their performance during the tournament? Who should we be keeping an eye on in future?

Shawzi. It was his first LAN and he managed to get to the semi final. If he could finish he could have even made the final. As for one to watch for the future, I’d say Carl Strange who has now managed to finish inside the top 4 at his last 3 events.

What’ve you made of the event so far on the whole?

It’s been a brilliant event, there’s a lot of people here and the tournament’s been well run, so on the whole it’s been really good.

Any final words?

I’d just like to thank The Imperial for supporting me and hopefully I can win many more LAN events under them.

GamesAid

FIFA Super League will be help raise money for GamesAid with a future event.

GamesAid is a new UK video games industry based charity. It distributes funds to a diverse range of charities; it is a means of giving something back on behalf of the industry.

GamesAid acts as a broker of charitable activity on behalf of the industry, taking advice from all sectors. It is a non trading body. The charity is administered by Trustees, who operate on a fixed term basis. It is formally run by a chairman, who is also on a fixed term.

GamesAid is a children and young people’s charity.

Funds will predominantly be used to support children’s charities in the UK, with limited application for overseas causes; for education, health, housing and social welfare. Funds may also be deployed for career guidance and sport. Where possible, there will be some form of technology/interactive play element, but that is not a funding stipulation.

Funds can only be raised for Registered Charities.

The charities supported by GamesAid are more likely to be small-to-medium sized, rather than the better-funded larger ones.

We hope to be sorting out a Live Fifa event to raise important funds for GamesAid.

FIFA Super League gears up

We are gearing up for a decision on a launch date now. We have nearly sorted the website, and we are currently working on the full rules for the first season.

We are still actively looking for a main sponsor, and we have also decided to look for a second live gaming venue. We have a few options on the table and you will hear it here first when we have more news.

We will be opening up the registration page soon to be able to register your interest in joining, so stay tuned for that.
